Freeport, Grand Bahama is a special place. It allows those who travel to the Bahamas for reasons other than purely fishing to sneak off for a day or two and experience some of the best fishing in the world. We fish the waters off the East end of Grand Bahama Island (roughly 40 minutes from Freeport) and target bonefish, mutton snappers, jacks, sharks, barracudas, and the occasional permit with fly rods and spinning gear. We welcome anglers of all skill levels. Come for a day or stay for a month.

Flyfishing for bonefish in the Bahamas is considered to some to be the best fly fishing in the world. Usually trips to the Bahamas involve complicated flights, expensive lodges, booking agencies, and a structured tourist environment.Come fish with us in a comfortable laid back environment, where you can experience some of the best bonefishing the Bahamas has to offer.

Bonefish are probably the best possible fish to catch with a fly rod. It is visual, as they frequent really shallow water to feed, and once hooked run fast, really fast!

Freeport Fishing Guide: Bernard Bevans

Bernard Bevans is a native of McLean's Town Grand Bahama, and has been putting anglers over bonefish for over the last 15 years. He has guided for the two lodges on the island and has been on his own for the last 10 years. His ability to spot bonefish is only superceeded by his ability to get his client's fly where it needs to be, whether the angler can see the fish or not. Bernard, aka Pittawe by his friends and clients, is an accomplished angler, fly tier, and waterman. His laid back, professional attitude will make sure that all of your needs are taken care of, and you will for sure be a better bonefish angler after spending time on the water with him.

Bernard operates out of a Maverick tunnel hull boat that he trailers in and out of the water daily to ensure your safe return after a long day fishing. His boat is a technical shallow water boat, and is built to be poled in water too shallow for many other boats on the island. It can accomodate 2 anglers.

Bernard, his wife Vanessa, and their three children live in McLeans Town, and are known for their generousity and devotion to God.
